Location: Wichita, KS

Type: Full-Time | Salaried | In-Person/Occasional Remote | Mon-Fri | 8 am – 5 pm
Under the guidance of the director of finance, the accounting controller manages the day‑to‑day operations of the accounting department and plays a key role in ensuring the organization’s financial integrity and compliance. This position oversees core accounting functions, supports program and leadership teams, and provides accurate, timely financial reporting to support Catholic Charities’ mission and growth.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll, bank reconciliations, and cash management functions
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements for multiple entities
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate grant billing and reporting; reconcile grant reports with budgets and the general ledger
- Collaborate with program directors to investigate budget variances and provide financial guidance
- Oversee the full‑cycle payroll process, including time and attendance review, leave verification, payroll transmittals, and payroll reconciliations
- Maintain and manage employee payroll records and databases
- Coordinate and support all government and financial audits
- Assist program leadership with budget development and financial planning
- Prepare financial analyses and provide expert financial insight to leadership
- Supervise and support accounting staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong accounting and financial management skills with attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and complex spreadsheet development
- Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings clearly
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Sound judgment, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- Minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience
- Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred
- Grant accounting or grant reporting experience preferred
- Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership capability preferred

- Work Type: Moderate, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
